BC Parks Reservation Service

New Changes for 2012

Message to Discover Camping users: As a reminder to all campers who want to ensure they get their favourite campsites on their preferred dates, frontcountry reservations open at 7:00 am (PST) on March 15, 2012.

BC Parks works with our Park Facility Operators, our clients and our reservation service provider to ensure we offer the best service possible to our customers. Click here to view changes for 2012 to the Discover Camping Reservation Service. [PDF 127KB]

Tip for Discover Camping Reservation System users experiencing waitimes during peak periods:

The reservation system experiences times of unusually high volume which can have the effect of slowing the system down. This can occur as certain dates open for the next available reservations (i.e. opening day, or exactly 3 months before long-weekends).  During these peak periods, we suggest you try accessing Discover Camping through the mobile interface: https://secure.camis.com/BCMobile/

Please note:

  • You do not need a Smartphone to access the mobile system; you can use any computer.
  • This interface is set up to be easy to navigate on a mobile device so there aren’t pictures or maps as on the regular site, but if you already know the site you want, this can be  a quicker way to make a reservation!

Security upgrade

To ensure that your credit card information is kept secure, the Province of BC has recently upgraded security standards. While most users should experience a seamless transition, there may be some difficulty accessing the payment page if your computer's security is out of date. Read an explanation of the upgrade and how to correct problems.

Site Specific Reservations

More than 90 reservable parks will be offering site specific reservations. To help you plan your stay, we have added many photos and campsite specific information. Please note there may be minor differences in the campsite information and photos may not be available for every site; these differences are not grounds for refunds. These details are intended to assist visitors to select an appropriate campsite when the reservation is made, and to receive their specific site when they arrive. If you want to camp close to a friend, near a trail or by the beach, you can now select the site that meets your needs.

Group Site and Picnicking Reservations

Effective September 15th, 2011, the Discover Camping Reservation Service will be accepting reservations for group and day use facilities 12 months in advance of the arrival date.  Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance provided the dates requested are within the operating season of that park. Reservations are taken on a "first come-first served" basis and may be made online at www.discovercamping.ca or via our Call Centre (a $5 surcharge applies) at 1-800-689-9025, Monday to Friday from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm and Saturday, Sundays and holidays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

No Change in Fees

The cost to make, change and cancel a campsite reservation remains the same as previous years. The reservation service charge of $6.00 plus tax per night will apply, to a maximum of $18.00 plus tax for three or more nights per campsite. This charge covers operational costs and ensures the reservation service pays for itself and is not subsidized by taxpayers.

In addition to the reservation charge, a service fee of $5.00 plus tax will be applied to transactions completed by the call centre. You can avoid this charge by reserving online.
