Help Us Replant Some of Your Favourite Campgrounds
Removal of Dangerous Trees in Campgrounds
In the past few years, a number of park campgrounds have had hazard trees removed to ensure public safety. The trees that were removed had been damaged by natural causes such as storms and high winds, mountain pine beetle or other insect infestations.
To ensure our parks stay natural, we will only be planting trees that that are native to the climate, soils and region in which the park occurs.
In some cases, seed from trees around the park will be collected and the seed will be used to grow trees specifically for the replanting project. This process may take several years; however, it will ensure that the planted trees are well adapted to survive in the local environment and that the park grows back naturally.
