Reporting Regulation – Greenhouse Gas Reduction (Cap and Trade) Act

Introduction

The Reporting Regulation, under authority of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction (Cap and Trade) Act, was approved by Order of the Lieutenant Governor in Council on November 25, 2009. The regulation sets out the requirements for reporting operations within B.C. emitting 10,000 tonnes or more of carbon dioxide equivalent per year to report greenhouse gas emissions to the British Columbia Ministry of Environment.  Those reporting operations with emissions of 25,000 tonnes or greater are required to have emissions reports verified by a third party.

In addition to the information provided on the information for reporting operations and verification information web pages, the ministry has prepared a Methodology Manual (PDF/888 KB), Verification Manual (PDF/300 KB) and Emissions Estimator (for the purpose of taking a first step in evaluating registration requirements).
