Update: Consultation on the Beverage Container Product Category in the Recycling Regulation

Between October, 2011, and February 28, 2012, the Ministry of Environment consulted with stakeholders and the public on key aspects of the beverage schedule of the Recycling Regulation. The objective of the consultation process was to identify options to increase recovery rate for beverage containers in all regions of the province and improve environmental management of collected containers with the least incremental financial impact to consumers and producers.


Extended Producer Responsibility e-Link Mailing List

The EPR e-Link system provides subscribers with up-to-date information - e.g., regulatory news, meeting announcements, information resources, and on-line documents — from the Ministry of Environment about Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in B.C.


Recycling Regulation Video: Three Steps for Compliance

The Ministry has developed a compliance promotion video, which features several regulated producers speaking about their experience. It highlights several key steps that newly regulated producers may take to comply with the Recycling Regulation.

Design for Environment (DfE) Best Practices Lessons for British Columbia’s Ministry of Environment

In 2008 the Ministry of Environment engaged in Five Winds International to research design for environment practices and identify opportunities to incorporate these practices in B.C. either by way of Recycling Regulation or via other means.


Economic Impacts of the BC Recycling Regulation

In 2008 the Ministry of Environment engaged Gardner Pinfold Consulting Economists to evaluate economic aspects of industry product stewardship programs for eight product categories regulated within B.C. Recycling Regulation.


The Brian Grant Award

The British Columbia (B.C.) Ministry of Environment, the Recycling Council of British Columbia (RCBC) and the British Columbia Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (BC Chapter of SWANA) have established an award to recognize the work of Brian Grant in advancing solid waste management in British Columbia.
