Waste Discharge Authorizations

Amending an Authorization

Permits and Approvals
Permits and approvals must be amended to reflect changes to authorized works, quantity and quality of the discharge, monitoring and reporting requirements or other terms and conditions.  Permits and approvals may also be amended to change the name of the permit holder or to transfer the authorization to a new owner.  Major permit amendments will follow a process similar to the new permit application process.  Minor amendments (defined in Section 1(2) of the Public Notification Regulation) will follow an abbreviated process in most cases as minor amendments generally do not require consultation or publication.  Clients are advised to consult with their regional office to determine the process required and the nature of any amendment application documents.  Application fees apply to amendments to permits and are not refundable.

Registrations
Where information provided for registration under a regulation or code of practice has changed since the registration was submitted, clients must submit updated registration information to the ministry, generally within 30 days of the change.  Registrations cannot be transferred from one owner to another.  Where new ownership of a registered site occurs, the previous owner must submit a notice requesting cancellation of the registration.  The new owner must submit a new registration.  Where the ministry has the details of the registration, the process can be shortened.  Contact your ministry regional office for details.  Application fees apply to updates to registration information for registrations under the Municipal Sewage Regulation and are not refundable.
