Science and Information

To have a better understanding about the complex nature of water itself, data are needed about water quality, quantity, surface water, ground water, licensed use, fish habitat, flood events and hazards, dike and dam safety, weather patterns, and forecasts. Due to the range of information collected and analyzed, and the multiple ways that the data are used to inform all of us, the data are stored in databases specific to each of their purposes.

Details about the databases and their primary functions can be found under the General Information section. The majority of databases are available to the general public, however, there are a few that are restricted to ministry staff, with related data being made available upon request. All the databases have been listed under the appropriate headings below.
